Is Canada still a free nation? I’d like to share with you this very important 15 min. podcast by Glenn Beck – an American host who highlights how Canada has changed drastically since 2021 (5 years) that brings into question if we are still a Free Nation. It’s a good question because many of us have either forgotten or are totally unaware of these changes ……or, don’t really appreciate what we have had with our freedom to speak and express our opinions, our freedom to be independently self- sufficient from reaping the benefits of our prosperity from property ownership, etc. – all of which may be taken away from us in the very near future as was done to the people of Venezuela in 1999 when they were ruled by authoritarian control under the leadership of Hugo Chavez and then in 2019 it worsened under a full consolidated dictatorship under Nicholas Maduro where the people only got food through a government tracking card and were rationed. (Toronto’s new government-run grocery stores????)
Authoritarian Control:
- No Political Pluralism: Citizens cannot choose their leaders through free, fair, or competitive elections.
- No Rule of Law: The ruling elite operates above the law, using courts and police to protect their own power rather than citizen rights.
- Strict Censorship: The state dominates the media, blocks internet access, and punishes independent journalists to control what information citizens can see.
- Suppression of Dissent: The regime bans protests, outlaws opposition parties, and uses arbitrary arrests or violence to silence critics.
- Limited Civil Liberties: Freedom of speech, assembly, and religion are heavily restricted or entirely eliminated.

After watching this, you will realize everything depends on who the we, the people, elect to lead their communities (municipal), province and country. We have a municipal election coming up this October. Those who wish to become a member of council must submit their applications by August 21, 2026. While we still have the ability to vote (hopefully in a free and fair election), think about who you trust will represent your private interests in your community. Know this …. if you decide you want to run in the municipal election and you want to change what’s been happening with our municipal councils regarding their intent to regulate and control all private property:
- Private property was separated from the Crown/public land initially by the King/Queen (Crown) and then later (after the 1867 Constitution) by the province on behalf of the Crown. The reason for this separation of land was so that the people could have the opportunity to develop this land, prosper from its development without government interference and become independently self-sufficient from government support.
- Crown Land Patents were granted from the Crown to the property owners as proof that this land is to remain Private Property without government interference. That is why the provincial government under the Ministry of Natural Resources clearly acknowledges they “have no jurisdiction on Crown Patented land”.
- That is why it is written in the Legislative Acts of Provincial Government (Municipal Act, Forestry Act, etc) that the private property owner’s consent is required before the municipal or provincial government or any other entity can do any public work or exercise any authority (regulations/bylaws) on said property.
- Under the Canadian Constitution (sec. 92(8) of the 1867 Constitution), provinces hold absolute authority over local matters and establish municipal structures to delegate specific operational responsibilities. Municipalities possess no independent constitutional status or inherent sovereignty. Every city, town, or rural district exists solely because a provincial statute (such as Ontario’s Municipal Act) created it, and a province can alter or dissolve those borders at any time
- That is why we have elections – that is why we have politicians. It is THEIR job to be OUR voice. They are elected to protect OUR interests, our businesses. It is what keeps the economy for our country balanced and in check.
Keep in mind …… without our property rights, we have no rights — no voice and no freedoms!
