Wilful Blindness – a Book Review by Elizabeth Marshall

Over the years I have read hundreds of books, reports and, of course, legislation/ regulations/by-laws, etc., etc., etc.  No wonder I’m about 40 pounds over-weight (I like to say COVID was good to me).  It isn’t often that I do book-reviews because, generally, the books and reports, etc., that I read are, to some, very dry reading.  But every once in a while, I get something that is a real eye opener.

That’s what I think (not feel) about Sam Cooper’s “WILFUL BLINDNESS.”  We all know that I don’t venture into fiction.  Anything I read must be a thoroughly researched, noted, document for me to spend time on.  I deal in reality and, of course, I take everything I read with a huge grain of salt, including all of those very dry reports.

Most times my reading pertains to property rights, our various constitutions, John A. MacDonald’s bio notes (now that was a good read), I have even taken time to download an Anglo-Saxon dictionary, to have an enlarged understanding of some of the various historical documents, I have read.  Yes, these can be dry reading, but they are our history.  And yet throughout the years I have also sought out modern literature that affects the lives of Canadians.  Mr. Cooper’s book is one of those.

“WILFUL BLINDNESS” is not for the faint of heart.  This book brings in the connections, of some of our elected officials and bureaucrats, at the highest level, including their connections to foreign entities, that are harming Canada.  Jean Chretien is named and so is Justin Trudeau (their innocence/guilt is for you to research/decide).  There are a number of MPs, MPPs, and municipal council members named in Mr. Cooper’s book, as well as a number of criminals.

This book, albeit contains extensive information regarding British Columbia, also brings in Ontario, other provinces, the U.S. and other nations, that affect every aspect of Canadian governance, our laws, our policies, our fiscal prosperity and the lack thereof.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative is also named as something some of the “king-pins” use.  With how the criminal aspects of money laundering, etc., including the manufacture and distribution of fentanyl/illicit drugs across Canada and down through the U.S.   One, if they dig deeper, can see how the criminal aspects of money laundering, drug manufacturing, dealing, human smuggling, etc., is funding the expansion of Belt and Road projects through indirect means.

There is mention of the United Nations and how, in 2018, certain members/ representatives in the UN accepted bribes.  Perhaps, today, those bribes are a little more protected and kept deeper in the dark.  That should also be something to look into, but who will do it?

Throughout, Mr. Cooper’s book, it shows how the criminal aspects of money laundering, drug manufacturing, dealing, human smuggling, etc., is funding Iran, with its various terrorist groups, as well as those countries who are friendly with China like Russia, North Korea, etc., and through the B&R (Asian Infrastructure Bank?) other nations that are to do the bidding of China.  It should also be noted how many of the very rich, including the likes of Bloomberg and Rockefeller Philanthropic (not mentioned in Mr. Cooper’s book) are also invested in the Belt and Road.  Kind of makes one wonder what/where the dividends come from?  Are those dividends part of that money laundering, drug manufacturing, dealing, human smuggling, etc.?

One can only imagine the “why” our elected officials, of any/all stripes, would allow themselves to be suckered into this, but suffice it to say Canada is not the innocent it once was and to fully understand that one truly needs to read Sam Cooper’s “Wilful Blindness.”

If you have time, over this Christmas break, you might want to obtain Mr. Cooper’s book, as to this reader, it is a “must read” for every Canadian, to get some kind of grasp of what is truly happening in our nation.
