This year’s OLA AGM was held on Saturday, October 5 in Cobourg at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre. The first order of business was the election of the executive. All officers were returned for another year: Jeff Bogaerts as President, Co Vice-Presidents Bob Weimeir and Donna Burns and governors Vaughn Johnstone, Russ Robson, Stefanos Karatopis, and Jean-Serge Brisson. Our treasurer is Karen Bainbridge. The OLA is seeking a secretary. All jobs are voluntary. Many thanks to the Executive and especially our treasurer for their ongoing dedication to the OLA.
Around 60 people attended the meeting to hear presentations from a wide cross -section of speakers. These included:
- Joan Olech and Tony Kaluzny on Crown Land Patents
- Joe Kutlesa and Ken John from www.imatr.org
- Maggie Hope Braun, Gather2030 and KICLEI
- Martin McDermott, Teranet
- Kythe Baldwin and Arkadi Bouchelev, Maple Lake land boundary dispute
Judging by the number of questions posed to each of the speakers, it was plain that all presentations were well received.
This year, the OLA allowed almost two hours for lunch and this worked out well. People had time to grab a bite at the Convention Centre or at one of the many conveniently located restaurants within walking distance.
Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM. As requested, information from the presentation of the Crown Land Patents has been posted on our website.
