NOTICE OF OBJECTION: Aerial Spraying of Crown Forests to Remove Selective Vegetation

Ontario forests are being sprayed with glyphosate — a chemical linked to cancer and environmental harm. Overspray threatens farms, wildlife, and water. Why not plant trees by hand and create jobs instead? Learn more and take action by contacting Minister Mike Harris, MPP

Why Spray ?

🌲Suppress fast‑growing deciduous species (e.g., poplar, birch) and dense brush that compete with planted conifers like white pine, red pine, and spruce.

🌲Promote uniform conifer regeneration to meet long‑term forest management and timber supply goals.

What Chemical is in the Spray ….. What does it do?

Glyphosate is the chemical ….. a Herbicide ….. designed to

kill or control unwanted plants — basically, a “weed killer.”

🌲Glyphosate ….. the most widely used herbicide in the world.

🌲Introduced in the 1970’s (famous as the active ingredient in Roundup®),

🌲 non‑selective herbicide — meaning it will damage or kill most plants.

🌲 International Agency for Research on Cancer classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic to humans,”  Regulatory agencies in Canada, the U.S., and the EU have said it’s safe when used according to label directions. So were COVID vaccines.

🌲Can reduce plant biodiversity, affect insect and wildlife food sources, and possibly enter water systems.

🌲Overspray onto farms, Private Land, streams, lakes, ponds, cattle, sheep, vegetable gardens, the Fall Hunt, Moose and Deer organs, fish consumption, fishing, fish habitat and spawning?

🌲Remember Agent Orange in Vietnam? We have enough chemicals in our environment, why add more?

🌲Why not plant seedlings by hand. People need work and here is the opportunity.
