Under the heading of "Believe it or Not!"

Alto is sponsoring the Festival Franco-Ontarien!  What a slap in the face to franco-ontariens in Eastern Ontario that will have their property expropriated.

Update: the post on Festival Franco-Onterien's Facebook past noting support from ALTO has been taken down.

Update: The Festival and Alto have ceased their relationship. Bravo to all who raised awareness to this tone deaf move by Alto to fund the Festival and the Festival to receive the money.

Lots of money for advertising and high bonuses all around. Unbelievable!

On Facebook, Veterans for the Conservative Party of Canada shared this info from Blacklock's Reporter on June 5:

Yesterday Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon spoke to MPs about Cabinet’s $90 billion regional high speed rail venture, ALTO.

He called it an "exciting transformational project"

He said it will "change life as we know it"

MacKinnon acknowledged the service will be inaccessible to most Canadians, but said it would create “new worlds of intercity travel” for some Ontarians and Québecers.

Testifying at the Commons finance committee, House Leader MacKinnon predicted “robust economic benefits.” He acknowledged cost estimates were not finalized.

“Can you tell us how many metres of track have been laid for the Alto project?” asked MP Hallan.
“None,” replied MacKinnon.

“Can you tell us why $3 million in bonuses have been given out?” asked MP Hallan.
“It is Crown corporation,” replied MacKinnon. “They follow the Treasury Board guidelines for performance management.”

An Inquiry Of Ministry tabled June 1 in the Commons disclosed a total $2,758,968 in bonuses were paid to 134 Alto staff.
The figures were tabled at the request of Opposition House Leader Andrew Scheer.

If you haven't been following Erin Durant's Substack posts (Durant's Rants) about the Alto High-Speed Rail, you are missing out on some important information. Two examples that I found especially disturbing about this project are:
