Believe it or not, the OLA ENews, our online e-newsletter was started over five year ago. Our first edition was delivered to our subscribers’ email inboxes on July 1, 2013. Since then, Marlene Black and Shirley Dolan have searched out and even written articles for the OLA Enews each month, and we have not missed one deadline. This is with the help of our contributors who send us stories and articles. We also sometimes republish articles from the Landowner Magazine.

We could not have accomplished all this without our webmaster Dino Iannuzzi who maintains our list of subscribers, edits and adds art and formatting to our monthly ENews, and makes sure the email blast goes out every month. Thanks Dino.

Many of you are receiving our ENews every month but we wonder if you are getting the most out of it? Here are a few things about the ENews that you might not be aware of. Did you know …

  1. The Enews is FREE and is delivered to your inbox on the first of every month. You don’t have to be a member of the OLA to subscribe. We publish articles and stories about property rights. If you know of someone who might be interested in subscribing, please have them signup at www.ontariolandowners.ca.
  2. You can send your stories, articles, events, etc. to Shirley sjdolan@xplornet.com or Marlene thelandowner@bellnet.ca. Do you have a meeting or event that is property rights related? Do you have a story about a property rights issue? Most of our articles are 500 to 800 words but because we are an electronic newsletter, we can accept longer ones. Please keep the technical jargon to a minimum and remember to provide background for your story. Not everyone will know what you are talking about. Images are welcome. Please provide your article in Word format or plain text.
  3. All articles published in the OLA ENews are posted on the OLA website at www.ontariolandowners.ca/news/. They are also shown on most of our website pages to the right of the page under Latest News.
  4. You can find past articles of the OLA ENews easily and quickly by using the Search feature (top right-hand corner on the News page.
  5. You can share a story, from our website, on social media. Find the article and use the social media buttons on the left-hand side of the page. For example, to post on Facebook, click on the Facebook logo. A Facebook login screen will appear. Login to Facebook and click on Post to Facebook. Its that easy!
  6. We welcome comments on all our articles but lately we have not been received many. We suspect that part of the reason is because we have changed the way comments are made several times over the past five years, mostly to avoid spam. It’s a bit more work now to provide a comment but it can be done, and once you have “signed up” to leave comments, its fairly easy and straightforward. Here’s how you do it. Go to the bottom of the article that you want to comment on and look for Leave a Comment. Below this line, click on Logged In. You will get two choices. 1)  If you already have an account, login with your userid and password. Don’t forget to click the Captcha box to prove you are not a computer robot! Once logged in, go to the bottom of the page and enter your comment in the space provided.
