Why should I?  Why should I get involved when no one is going to bother listening to what I have to say??  I know how this will go, I'll just get frustrated and end up doing all this work on my own and be no further ahead at the end of the day.

Nothing can be further from the truth!!  What started with a text message has blossomed into a new chapter for the OLA - The Haliburton County Landowners Association was born.

Starting your own chapter allow you to do a number of things...

  1. bring together others in you community with the same concerns
  2. allows community experts to voice their opinions (you have a wealth of knowledge trapped in seniors minds - and no one asks them their viewpoints)
  3. you unlock critical opinions and can test theories
  4. you can mobilize - once the train starts...people will clamber on!!!
  5. your council will find out who you are!!
    • make delegations to express your views!
    • introduce yourself to your local councilors
    • hand deliver documentation for them!!!
      1. Councilors guide
      2. Municipal Act
      3. Planning Act
    • MAKE SURE YOU INFORM THEM YOU KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!
  6. LEAN ON THE OLA FOR SUPPORT EARLY TO PREVENT PITFALLS

Organizing members in your community for a common good can only result in positive change.  Educate yourself and learn your rights...and don't be afraid to stand up for them!!

Lastly, who I consider a wise man once told me..."If it doesn't feel right, it likely isn't"

Join the OLA today...make positive change and make a difference in your community!!
