Small Town Ontario by Bob Weirmeir

In Midwestern Ontario is a small village of approximately 350 people. This unique village straddles the line between Grey and Bruce counties. From August 9th -11th the village of Elmwood celebrated its’ 170th anniversary. There were activities planned for all ages throughout the weekend. From dances to suppers, car shows to a parade.

The parade was enormous, considering the size of the village. It took about 1 ½ hours to go through the main throughfare. There were, I believe, more people in the parade than live in the village. The street was lined with spectators from all over the surrounding communities.

Saugeen Regional Landowners proudly participated in this parade with a pickup decorated with OLA signs. Pictured are Bob Weirmeir (right) and Barry Cooney.
