Its time to step up and be heard! Municipal elections are just around the corner (October 24th is municipal election day in Ontario). We have at least two of our Landowners running for office: Elizabeth Marshall for Mayor in the Town of the Blue Mountains and Donna Burns in the Township of Whitewater Region. Best of luck to these two candidates.
This is a perfect time to engage municipal candidates that will potentially be representing you for the next four years. Here in Ottawa, we are hoping to make their Climate Change Master Plan an election issue. The price tag for plan, detailed in the Energy Evolution document, is almost $60 billion dollars. Yes, that is $60 BILLION. The City has yet to hold public meetings or to discuss the plan with its citizens.

On another note, the redistribution of Federal Electoral Districts is in progress. The proposed changes were released on August 19, 2022, and written submissions are being accepted on the changes until September 25. It is interesting to note that rural sections of the City of Ottawa are being carved out and included in other ridings such as Renfrew, Lanark, and Prescott Russell.

The changes would take effect in April 2024 probably in time for the next federal election.
